About an incident in the playground

Can I write like this way:

(a) The playground looked ugly and unsafe. The residents decided to organise a clean-up campaign. So they gathered in the playground one Sunday.

(b) Some people painted the swing and slide. A few men repaired the sea-saws. They worked hard under the hot sun.

(c) After they had finished, they were proud for their effort. The playground looked better than before. The children felt happy because they had a safe playground.
