About an incident - a visit to the dentist

Can I say,

Peter loved to eat sweets and chocolates. He did not bother eating them every day. He did not brush his teeth after eating (meals)

One day, Peter had a terrible toothache. His mother took him to the clinic. The dentist found a big cavity in Peter's teeth / hole. His teeth were pain / in pain.

Then, The dentist pulled out the teeth which had a big cavity. Peter decided to take good care of his teeth in the future. He took care his teeth with brushing his teeth day and night.
