About an event - a fire

Can I say,

One sunny day, two joggers were jogging around the park. Suddenly, they saw smoke coming out of a shophouse. They quickly rang the firemen for help.

Two minuted later, the fire bridge came to the shophouse. They helped the people climb down from the ladder. The smoke keep coming out from the shophouse.

The crowd became bigger. The firemen managed to put out the fire with their houses. After putting out the fire, the firemen went back.
