About an article

"These people are working from morning until dusk to earn their bread and butter, in fact not even butter, just their bread and salt," Mr Nur, an MP and popular actor told me.

Can I add article "a" before "popular"? Thanks.

Sure. No problem. In some cases you might want to omit the article to avoid the possibility the reader might think you're speaking of two different people. - A. (Wow! Too many words!)
