About a structure

Hi,

Can you tell me which sentence is the best, in order please? Do we have to put the article in front of the word "king" or not?

1-He became king in one day.

2-He became a king in one day.

3.He became the king in one day.

Thanks,

MVB

*I know some things, but would need your expertise.
