about a sentence structure

Hi,

Can someone tell me the grammar rule for this sentence structure?

Sentence:

I recommend that she sit properly on her chair.

("that she sit"-What rule can explain why the verb "sit" is said that way?

I hear this sentence, but don't know the rule behind it.

Thanks,
MVB
