About a rainny day

Can I write like this way:

(a) Last week, it was getting to rain. Connie was shutting the window. Suddenly, she saw her neighbour's clothes still hanging on the clothes-line outside the house.

(b) Then she rushed out to collect clothes from the clothes-line.

(c) After a few minutes, her neighbour came home. Connie returned the clothes to her. Her neighbour was very grateful and thanked Connie for being helpful.
