About a girl making sandwiches

Can I say,

(a) One afternoon, Mei was waiting for her mother to get home. She was very hungry so she made some sandwiches, Firstly, she open a tin of tuna.

(b) After that, she sliced a cucumber and an onion. Then, she put all the ingredients into a bowl and mixed them well.

(c) Finally, she spread the filling on piece of bread. She saved some sandwiches for her mother and finished up the rest.

You could say 'these ingredients', to refer to the cucumber and onion that you have already metioned,
