About a camping trip

Can I say,

(a) Last Saturday,the weather was fine and windy. Peter and his scouts went camping in the forest. They woke up early and started off at the foot of the hill. They carried their each backpack and hiked (up) to the (top of the ) hill to reach their campsite.

(b) When they reached, the scouts set up their canvas tent / tents beside the river. Peter went to look for firewood. Others got ready food before having dinner.

(c) They held a campfire party at night. They sat around the warm firewood and barbacued chicken wings and drumsticks. Some sang songs and danced around the campfire. Although they felt exhausted, they enjoyed themselves the whole night. It was exciting and adventurous camping trip (in Peter's life).
