ABILITY OF (PREPOSITION USAGE)

The ability of and the process that leaders use to transform the very nature of an organization in order to help ensure its success in the marketplace.

In the above sentence, what is the object of the prepostion 'of'? , or Should we remove the word 'and' after 'of'?

If you remove "of", the sentence will be more grammatical; but the meaning will be obscure.

If you remove "and", ditto; maybe "the capacity of the process...for transforming" would catch your intended meaning.

But even then, the sentence will lack a main verb.

Thanks for your feedback, MrPedantic. I saw this sentence in a business journal. I guess we can conclude the original sentence has a grammatical mistake.
