Abbreviations, plurals and apostrophes

If I'm using an abbreviation in a plural form, would I use an apostrophe?
For example, the abbreviation 'unis', the shortening of university to uni, but as plural form unis. I understand apostrophes are used to indicated a missing letter, but not used in words as a plural?
Would unis or uni's be correct?

Hi, I commonly see abbreviations like eg NGOs, PCs, NCOs. I'd say unis . Bear in mind that it is a word that is used in informal English, so how you do it is not really a big deal.
