Abbreviated or abbreviated as?

Hello, I want to utter the following sentence but I am not sure which form is correct:

My presentation refers to glioblastoma multiforme, abbreviated GBM
or
My presentation refers to glioblastoma multiforme, abbreviated as GBM.

I opt for the latter one but still would welcome some verification.
