So, it depends on context. The is used when university is just a building where they met. None is used when she actually educated there and met him while being there as a student.

I'm inclined to use zero-article, thus none is right.

In British English, I would choose the same, Fandorin.
But American English is less certain. "They met at the university" would be more commonly preferred.
