A/an before figures

Should I use ‘an’ as article, instead of ‘a’, when it comes before a number whose spelling starts with a vowel?

For example, I know that ‘an’ should be used to write:

“I will get an eighteen percent discount”

however, what about using numbers, instead of letters, for the figure?

“I will get [a/an] 18% discount”

Thank you,

With figures or words representing numbers, whether spelled out or written as a figure, use the sound of the number to determine between 'a' and 'an'. Thus, "an 18% discount" or "an 11-person team" or "a one-person position".
