a word that i couldnt find

if the nettle is dried in the sun, its sting and poison it contains are destroyed.
what does sting mean here? what part of the nettle plant is it? i know that sting is a sharp thing in plant or insect, but here am not sure and i dunno how to translate this word can i translated as ( the sharp part of the plant?)

do u mean it is thorns??

No, thorns are bigger. These are very fine hairs - you'd have to look quite closely to see them.
