In Polish it is "pieszczoch" and in English? In Polish it is used frequently for describing a child who likes caresses.

I wouldn't say they are less formal, just slightly different.

Pet doesn't really apply to people, in BrE anyway, other than in a rather old fashioned sexual term.

Nuzzle means to push your face and mouth against something, not kissing, and yes I guess we do it to our kids but it sounds weird to hear it in this context. I associate it with animals.

To me, to cosset means to take care of someone, for example tucking them up in a big warm blanket and bringing them soup if they are ill. It also has a meaning of 'over-protect'. A cosseted child has over-protective parents and is spoiled.

I don't think there is an adequate direct translation of the original.
