A wheelchair at the airport

Are these correct:
1) Three days before his flight, he broke his leg. So he called and asked for a wheelchair at the airport.
2) Three days before his flight, he broke his leg. So he called and requested a wheelchair at the airport.

He didn't do the asking/requesting at the airport. The wheelchair was supposed to be given to him when he got to the airport. (Actually two airports at least)

Gratefully,
Navi.
