Hello native speakers, A man just proposed to his girlfriend, and she says 'yes'. The happy man asks: "So when do we make the announcement?" or "So when do we make an announcement?"
I think either can be used in this situation. "The announcement" is more specific - it's the announcement that they will be getting married - and "an announcement" can serve as a way to introduce the noun "announcement" or make the announcement less specific.
Either works, in my opinion. Can someone confirm that my opinion is right?
