A Way to Say This

Hi, I asked this question as an anonymous. It didn't post or now I can't find it, one or the other. So sorry if I'm double-posting.

I want to say the opposite of "which he very much is."

In other words: "which he a little bit is"

Only problem: That doesn't sound normal or right or natural.

Is there something I could replace "very much" with that wouldn't otherwise in any way change the rest of the sentence?

In other words: I wouldn't want the whole thing to be completely changed. I would want the equal of "which he a little bit is," only sounding right …

Thanks for helping.

That sounds about as good as anything, considering the limitations you have put upon us. To me, the opposite of 'which he very much is' is 'which he is not at all'.

True. "Opposite" was not the right word. Thanks anyway.

I've settled (relucantantly) upon this: "which to some degree he is."

The whole sentence (if it helps anyone any further) is: "It's tough if you are idealistic, which to some degree he is."

My question now becomes: "which to some degree he is" or "which, to some degree,
