A vested interest

Hi I was reading an article about gmail, and I ran into this : "a vested interest", and I could not understand it. here is the whole paragraph :

"Luckily, Google has a vested interest in keeping your information as secure as possible. Follow http://mail.google.com/support/bin/static.py?hl=en&page=checklist.cs&tab=29487&from=29487&rd=1 for concrete steps to put your Google Account on lockdown, and pay special attention to the advice below."

Here's the basic idea.

Google does not want to keep your info secure just because they want to be kind to you. Doing it also benefits Google.

It means that Google has just as much interest in your security as you do although Google's interests are probably not your interests.
