Hi, teachers.
e.g. A great variety of flowers were shown there.

Does the underlined chunk of phrase function as an adjective? If so, how about the following sentences?

A number of applications have already been interviewed.

A series of bombs killed many people across Baghdad.

A group of students protested by arms.

A ··· of pattern seems to serve as an adjective. Am I right?
