'A username' or 'an username'?

Which is the correct way to write this? The word starts with a vowel, and it sounds like a vowel, but I just can't swallow 'an username' Emotion: stick out tongue

So, which is the correct way?

You are right. "A username" is the correct version.

I believe this is because the u in user actually sounds like a consonant - "ju", so it is like "juser".

The point is not what letter it starts with, but what sound. "Username" starts with a consonant sound, "yoo", so "a username" is correct.
