A tricky question

Choose the correct answer:

For me, "equipped" seems an odd word to use in that context. I would be unsure whether the correct answer was supposed to be "equipped" or "carved".

I would pick ( C). Sometimes a statue is carved with a base, like this one.

I would say equipped too but some teachers here say carved or even positioned

None of these alternatives sounds right.

I think it´s difficult to find an appropriate word because of the passive voice construction. Better to say: "The base of the small statue was very ***", where *** can be fine, beautiful, ornate, etc. - depending on what you want to convey.
