a traditional Russian feel

Tchaikovsky's goal was to write music that had a traditional Russian feel, but that was good enough to be enjoyed all over Europe.

Hi,
Why does the above use "feel" instead of "feeling?" Does "feel" mean "style, sense, or appearance?" Thanks.
