Speech & Pronunciation

A tough word...

Hi guys!

I have a question, that is how does one pronounce the word "wiki"

It is used for a sorta free encyclopedia, called wikipedia. I went to Webster, dictionary.com and to bartleby but they had no pronunciation for me. Do you know how to pronounce it? Is it more like "weeeekeeeee" or like "wikeee" or maybe even "wiky"? If the American spelling is different than the British, could you please tell me both?

Thanks in advance

The Hawaiian word, wiki wiki, means fast, or quick. I guess that the web site used wiki in their name to suggest that you get fast results there. Wiki sounds the same as the English word, wick (wîk), but with an i or y sound at the end.
