A tiger/the tiger

Hi there, suppose in an exam I am told to write a paragraph about "tiger"? Should I start with a or the?
  • A/the tiger is a ferocious animal. It eats flesh. It has four legs. Its skin is yellow with black stripes on it.
Do they both sound natural?
