a thousand vs. one thousand

Would (a) and (b) be used interchangeably?
(a) This city was built more than a thousand years ago.
(b) This city was built more than one thousand years ago.

The form with the indefinite article is more common and natural, in my opinion. I would use 'one thousand' in that sentence only if I were stressing the length of time.
