Is the sentence above all right grammatically? I am not sure about "an".

If “an” orange is correct, why then in the following sentence there is nothing.

My favorite fruit is strawberry.

Is strawberry here plural?

That is one natural way of putting it here on the East Coast of the US. "The orange" would also be correct, but it sounds a little too technical for every day.
