A thank-you-letter to the interviewer

Is it good to write in the letter: I am confident that I am well qualified/the right candidate for the job. My work experiences and my communication skill will make me a great asset to your company. Aren't they more suited in a cover letter?

A writing exercise for a thank-you-letter. I'm sure it's quite alright to write in the letter "I am confident that the right candidate for the job"; however, not sure if I should also include "my work experiences and my communication skill will make me a great asset to your company". Then close the letter with I look forward to hearing from you.
