A test question

She's certainly recovering quite well from the operation, but she doesn't — going back to teaching a class of 8-year-olds!

Hi, I believe the answer is "C" but "A" puzzles me. What do you think?

I can construct a story so that your line would fit, but it's not very natural, no.

In the test question, C is so far and away the first choice that there is no reason to try to find a way to make the others fit.
