A term in internet marketing

"Not all CLICKS are designed the same, he said, but I thought that was odd because almost all the business owners talk about are clicks and how to get more CLICKS"

What's the "click" here supposed to mean? I thought it was supposed to be the clicks of a web link or something too, but judging by the first clause of the statement it seems otherwise.

Dear Diaana, I don't know either. Internet marketers may also describe icons to click on as "clicks", but for me, that would be a fairly recent development, or just jargon which most people don't know. I am not certain that "click" has been used correctly but others may know more.

An ad on the internet is intended to get you to "click" on it and go to the advertiser's Web site.
The action of clicking on such an ad is a "click."

If you put out an article or something else of general interest tell someone they can "click here" for more information, thereby bringing you to your site, you are looking for "clicks."
