deadrat short-livedIsn't that supposed to be used to describe an object/person that ONCE lived? I mean if I were to say that every model of a certain make all have batteries have a shorter life span, what term should I use? Certainly that would include all of them that are not yet made.
deadratNo, the term for a person that once lived is "dead." Come to think of it, a battery too.A battery that doesn't keep its charge long is a short-lived battery. "Life" refers to electrical charge. We even talk about battery life span, in this case a short one.Circuits that conduct current are also called live. In other words, if the spec mandates a faulty part that makes current models short-lived, we can be fairly certain that the new models will be the same.Is this still a surprise? If so, tell me why
maelstromcan you actually say "the batteries of iphone4s ARE all pretty short-lived"Of course you can say it, which is pretty much what CNN did in 2007, claiming a battery life of 2 years or so for the iPhone4. That's pretty short for a battery you can't replace. It turns out they were wrong.
