A tenure of land by agricultural service fixed in amount and kind

socage
a tenure of land by agricultural service fixed in amount and kind or by payment of money rent only and not burdened with any military service
[M-W's Col. Dic.]

I think "amount" stands for money, but not sure about "kind". Please help me with it.

I think "money rent" is used as a single phrase. Is this so?

"Kind" probably means the type of agriculture is fixed (maybe growing a specific crop). For example, landowners would often require a certain percentage of the actual farmer's harvest as payment for using the land. You're right about money rent being a single phrase; the rent is paid by money.
