a tech-speak question
Hi,
I need to translate a certain "technology" term into English as seamlessly as possible.
Have checked a few tech dictionaries first.
Below are the variants different dictionaries suggest:
(1) Automatic power information and fiscal metering station.
(2) Automatic information and power fiscal metering station.
(3) Automated information and measuring system of commercial energy metering.
None of them looks flawless to me...
If you could answer the following questions?
(1) Can "fiscal" be used interchangeably with "commercial" in this context?
(2) Stylistically, which of the two , "information and measuring system"
or "information and measurement system", is preferable?
(3) Does the version,
"Automatic information and measurement system for commercial energy metering" look "good enough" to you?

In that case, would it be better to say "commercial electricity metering"? I would also suggest "Automated" rather than "Automatic".
Another thing I would mention is that "commercial energy metering" does not distinguish between systems used by electricity generators/distributors and those used by commercial electricity consumers. I'm not sure whether that's important.

GPYwould it be better to say "commercial electricity metering"?There must be good reasons for the experts in this stuff to say "energy (or power) metering", not the less stilted "electricity metering" ?? Personally, I have no idea what is wrong with "electricity metering... some engineers seem to prefer "lofty language" you know :-) in any case when in Rome
