A tailor shortens pants

Does a tailor shorten pants?
How would you write this? I repeat "to do" twice.

My pants were holed at the bottom so I went to a tailor to get them shortened to get rid of the holes.

Repeating "to do" is not a problem. It's often unavoidable.
I'm not familiar with "to hole" as a verb.

There is a phrasal verb for what tailors do to pants like yours, take up. You took your pants to the tailor's to have them taken up.
