Essay & Composition Writing

a tabloid experience

Helllo!! I ve got a homework in English to write a report about one text conserning boulevard press.. Can you please check it?

During the Gulf War of 1991 John Simpson, a foreign affairs editor of BBC Television was sent as a reporter to Bagdad. Because of malnutrition and exhaustion he had to go to hospital in Amman, Jordan. Without seeing John once reporters wrote an article about him turning him into a hero. The article didnt explain any serious reasons of John being heroic. While stay at hospital some journalists from tabloids interviewed Simpson and one of their questions concerned the badge of Saddam Hussain laying on Johns table. His real answer, that "the nurses and cleaners at the hospital had become noticeably more friendly when they saw the badge“ was presendetd in the press in a completely changed version. Palestinians doctors were published as monsters who refused to treat J.Simpsons until they have seen the badge of Hussain. But this is not the end of the story. Journalists started trailing the life of John, who got divorced some years ago , and his family. Even the only one comment of his ex-wive was turned into black light. An affectionate relationship with her former husband was not the fact tabloid journalists wanted to get to hear. So they represented her as an „acid“ ex-wife who does not care about her „adrenalic junkie“ ex-husband.

These are the events and circumstanses which led John Simpson to write an article about it.
