a study of/in/on Shakespeare’s Hamlet

Dear Teachers,

I would be grateful if you point out the differences between “in”, “on” and “of” in the following:

A study of Shakespeare’s Hamlet.

A study in Shakespeare’s Hamlet.

A study on Shakespeare’s Hamlet.

Which one is more common to use?

Thanks

Hello WW

I would only use #1; but maybe other posters would differ!
