A streak of light was coming from under the closed door of the kitchen, spelling someone's presence there.

Hi

Please see this description and tell me if the yellow sentence, especially the underlined word is OK? Any SUGGESTIONS are welcome.

[The big hall of the hall is completely dark, except for the faint light that is coming from under the closed door of the kitchen.]

A streak? of light was coming from under the closed door of the kitchen, spelling someone's presence there.

Thanks,

Tom

PS: How about "beneath" instead of "under"?

Streak works there. Were the lights already on? If they were you may want to clarify that there was a change because there would have already been a streak of light.

  • Streak works there.

  • Maybe something like " What was once a solid streak light coming from under the closed kithcen door was now split into two golden colums, spelling someones presence on the other side.
