'A stray dogs problem' - is it exist in your country?

Hi. I live in . There are a lot of stray dogs in my town. And many of the citizens consider this as a big problem (some of them were attacked by street dogs and are frightened of them). Officially there is a low that forbid shooting dogs (and violence against them), but in fact municipal services are shooting dogs surreptitiously and local authorities just pretend they know nothing about this. Last year the refugee for dogs was founded. It was build for accommodation of 50 dogs, but there are 110 dogs in it now, and the financing of it is scanty.

I like dogs very much. I have a dog and a cat.

I just wanted to know if such a problem exists in your country/town and how it is (or was) solved.

In Brazil, or at least in my city we dont have such a problem with stray dogs. I mean, they are a nuisance - they live near trash piles, tear up the bags containing rests of food and so on. Many people consider them as a problem to the public health, but theres not much action being taken about it.

Here in germany i don't consider it as a problem . Sometimes a dog is running alone in my village , but nobody really cares Emotion: wink

Cool Breeze, thats amazing! Are there no stray dogs in towns??? Or in villages too? And if someone just kick out of home a puppy (or an adult dog), for instance? Can you tell us how this problem was solved? (or maybe it never existed in your country?)

Alex-93, I never had problems with stray dogs too. Once a dog, a big rotveiler, rushed at me, but it wasn't stray. I think there is the same situation with dogs in our villages: nobody really cares. But here in towns it is considered as a big problem. Maybe the cause is that in town dogs can feed themselves near trashes, and there are more of them in towns as a consequence.

Here in Germany are usually no stray dogs , unless a dog escaped from home , When i go to school in the morning i sometimes see a certain dog, but it's the only one here...

There have been no stray dogs here, at least not in my lifetime. It would be punishable to release a dog in the wild and I don't think any dog could survive our cold winters. In northern Finland temperatures go down to -30C every winter even though that is extremel

There are couple of dogs in my neighborhood looking for something to eat. They don't attack us. I can say that they don't even bark. I'm not sure but as a biology student I think they've learnt to live with us. For example I saw one of the dogs was trying to cross the street. This seems normal but....
