A strawberry Twinkie

On an rainy day he might have packed a peanut butter and banana sandwich and a pack of M&M's and a strawberry Twinkie.

Hi,

Is a strawberry Twinkies a cake or a dessert? Is there special implication of the brand name Twinkies?

Besides, why is there an apostrophy and s after M&M in the above? Thanks.

TWINKIES are a small packaged cake-like sweet, well known in the US as a cheap bit of junk food. The apostrophe after the second M of M&Ms is a common mistake. Some style manuals even condone it.
