A staying-home mom

Hi,

Are the two terms the same thing or is there any difference between them?

A staying-home mom

A housewife

Top answer

A stay-at-home mom stays home with the children and may also do the majority of cooking and cleaning. A housewife may or may not have children but she cooks, cleans, and all the other things needed to run the household.

I think HOUSEWIFE is common in British English and HOMEMAKER is common in American English. That is the only difference.

I hope that helps.
