I would like to ask which question is correct or if both are acceptable.

Is Jose Spanish?

or

Is Jose a Spanish?

There is a rule of sorts for adjectives and nouns of nationality. If the adjective ends in the following letters:

ish
ch
ine
ic

then the adj. cannot be used as the noun. For example:

British
Spanish
Finnish
Danish
Swedish
Polish
French
Dutch
Phillipine
Icelandic
...
Etc.

All other adjectives of nationalit
