"a sofa on a planter"??

Hi,

It's from a book and I've got two questions.

They're boys are either looking at bikes or patches and the girls are lounging around on the sofa sitting on the planter out front.

a)Is this incorrect? or this is just because of me who's unfamiliar with this type of grammar.

b)Could you imagine this? I think this one's also incorrect. a sofa on a planter? I can't imagine it well.

Thank you for your help,
M

A-- No, something is wrong, but I'm not sure what was intended. Probably just ' the boys'. B-- Again wrong.

What is a planter that girls could be sitting on? Why would a boy look at patches?

I think there are a FEW problems with this, not just the ones you underlined.
