The girl was very surprised, however she acted like she wasn't.

"Welcome. I'm ready to compete with you." she said arrogantly.

With that, the handcrafts nymph sat beside the girl and took her skeins of threads colored like the rainbow and a big piece of cloth out of her gown(or chiton?) She took her needle in her hand and turned to the girl and said:

"Then let the competition begin. We are free to work on any desired theme and I'll be the judge of the clash. If I find any slightest defect in your work, then you're in big trouble. Let's see if you can beat me."

And so started the competition. The news of the competition reached to the other nymphs in the woods and they came in droves to watch it and formed a huge crowd around the embroiderers. Luckily, we were watching the competition comfortably since we were in the front row.

The competitors were embroidering furiously. Within a short period of time their embroidered works turned into a piece of painting on a cloth. The theme of the nymph of handcrafts was the world of the nymphs. She was skillfully embroidering on her cloth the water nymphs playing in the lakes and rivers of the woods and the tree and the flower nymphs dancing among the trees. But the young girls skills were match for the skills of the handcrafts nymph. The young girl had chosen to embroider the stories of the Woods of the Metamorphoses. Her work was even depicting the event we had witnessed that day. The nymph, Daphne and the handsome hunter chasing her, the son and the daughters of the Sun and the water nymphs were so perfectly embroidered that our jaws dropped.
