Essay & Composition Writing

A small essay

Hello everybody! I've just discovered this forum and I think it's very interesting

I would de very happy if you could take a glance to my small essay.

The Iraqi conflict has liqhtened a structural problem in China: its too large dependence to oil producers. The country is afraid that the war get worse the situation. China has only 2.3% of the oil mondial reserves. So since 10 years the exports exceed the imports; the country is the 3rd oil consumer in the world.
Behind this increasing dependence, the country must react!
First the government decided to create a 90 days strategic reserve. Contrary to others countries, China has no oil reserve yet.
Secondly, Peking is setting a large program of investments up, which aim to have a steady and diversified supplying.

Thank you....

Interesting - I had never thought of that. China is so big, one never thinks of it having any natural resource problem... How dependent we all are on each other!

It would be a good idea for all countries to keep that in mind..

Hello Sam

Here are just a few suggestions:

too large dependence - I would put "over dependence", meaning they depend on other oil producers too much.

oil mondial reserves - world oil reserves ( mondial est francais, non?)

Ninety days strategic reserve - a ninety day strategic reserve, this would also be the same if you are describing car engines, for exampl

Hi Sam

Juliette again, just had another thought:

Behind this increasing dependence, the country must react! - I would change to:

On account of this increasing dependence, the country had to react.

I would change "must" to "had to" here, as the government has already reacted, using "must" suggests that the government has done nothing as yet to combat the pr

Hi Sam,
I think everyone has already covered the queries on your essay so I won't repeat them, I just wanted to mention that if this piece is being used in China or for any Chinese, use Beijing instead of Peking.
Although both names are recognised, some Chinese are quite sensitive about calling the capital by the older, non-socialist name.
Very interesting read!
