a simple question.

Is 'the second' between 'El Dorado' and 'accompanied' indicating the time when Sir Walter Raleigh made expeditions?

Sir Walter Raleigh makes the first of two expeditions in search of El Dorado, the second accompanied by his son Watt who was killed during the adventure in AD1617
