A simple question!

hi there,
I've got this simple question : In the 2nd type conditional if we want to invert the auxiliary-subject, can we say for example:
if we went out...= were we to go out? What I am asking is if any verb in the second type if cause can be inverted as long as it is turned into an infinitive.

I won't swear to the possibility of any inversion, but your example is correct; however, it is very formal or hyperformal.
