A simple question

was is used as past tense and the use of "is" is present tense. Do you follow?

if the sentence was present it would look like this:

The book I'm reading is not mine.

You read the book yesterday that wasn't yours right?

So the correct thing would be:

The book I read yesterday was not mine.

Anonymousthe book I read yesterday WAS not mine or the book I read yesterday IS not mine which one is correct? I thought the book didn't belong to me yesterday and still doesn't belong to me today so should I use " IS" right?
