Essay & Composition Writing

A short writing about fashion. Could you please read and help?

 Hi,
If you could read this and correct, it would be great. Thank you.

Clothes are meant to reflect human body form. This is what people can easily think of fashion design. However, Issey Miyake who “is known to dislike the title ‘fashion designer’ and prefers to be considered an artist whose medium is fabric,”

experimented a different way. His Staircase Pleats(Figure 1) would not look like a piece of dress if a mannequin were not wearing it. At the exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Miyake’s Staircase Pleats(Figure 2) is not on a mannequin, and it is not easy to figure out even where to put one’s arm. Also, its staircase-looking pleats and metallic feeling from its material give audience an impression at first that it would be uncomfortable to wear it. Women’s Wear Daily responds in its review of the collection, “The fact that no one’s going to be wearing pleated pyramids with precision-cut staircases up each side goes without saying.”

However, Miyake’s experiment does not actually make his Staircase Pleats unwearable. Marina Urbach who has Miyake’s pieces remarks, “ I wear them all the time and feel very comfortable.”
The dress does look as if it were made of metal. As a matter of fact, it is made of fabric even though it is easy to forget the fact because of its appearance. The technology Issey Miyake has developed to make permanent pleats is the key. By taking advantages of the technology, he could  create structural form in his dress.
