A short Paraphrase of Pablo Neruda's Die Slowly

Hello every body,

I'm reading and trying to understand this poem but I've faced some problems understanding this part (bold sentences):

He or she who shuns passion, who prefers black on white, dotting one's "i's" rather than a bundle of emotions, the kind that makes your eyes glimmer, that turns a yawn into a smile, that makes a heart pound in the face of mistakes and feelings, dies slowly.

Thanks for your help in advance.

He who shuns passion dies slowly. This is the statement.

The balance of the passage explains in detail what the author means by "a person who shuns passion."

Specifically, it's a person who "prefers" A, B, and C, "rather than" X, Y, and Z.

This is a person who is "detail oriented" and likes exact, clearly defined distinctions between things.

I read it as he thinks to really live you need spontaneity-things shouldn't be either black OR white,

feeling deeply is far more important than making sure everything is perfect along the way..to be

too pedantic, too correct and too buttoned up is to die slowly. Love true, hard, and deep....

feel to the enth everything life offers....don't think too much, just do

Mr. Naruda says what he means very clearly:

"reminding oneself that being alive requires an effort far greater than the simple fact of breathing."

Simply, you need to take risks to be "alive", otherwise you're not living a long life, just "dying slowly" from birth.

i love pablo naruda's writings so much

Those people who only see things as either entirely good or entirely bad. Usually they are overly religious people.
